My “Final” Post

I know what you’re thinking. “This guy’s just started his blog, how can he be ending it right away?” Allow me to explain. With many of these personal blogs and websites, people often begin them with energy and confidence, never realizing that all things must come to an eventual end. Typically, posts will start to come less and less frequently, then ceasing without notice. The few followers who truly care are left wondering what happened to the person behind the website. At least for a while – then they move on to other things. Since I have absolutely no idea when or how this blog will come to an end, I thought I’d take the opportunity now to write my final post. Now when it comes to pass that I leave this blog for other things, you can just go back to this post for my “farewell address”.

I knew this day would come when I began this blog way back when the year 2014 (using the Old Style of calendar notation) was fresh and new. I find that I must now move on to if not better, at least different things and bring this great adventure to a close.

I would like to thank all the friends I have made along the way. Everyone who bothered to leave a comment; many of which were as well-reasoned and insightful as my posts themselves. I cherish the intellectual stimulation you gave me. To all those who stopped by to read my words, thank you. I hope I at the very least made sure your time here was not a complete waste.

There are a few people whom honor demands I single out for special thanks. Madame President, it was an honor to have met you. Those nights on Lake Geneva…. I best leave it at that; there are still reputations at stake! I was truly surprised to find that you were a regular visitor here, and am pleased that you found my humble suggestions to be useful. To Dr. — and Dr. ___: Who would have ever thought that a passing conversation in an airport departure lounge would have led to a Nobel Prize? I am glad that you and I were able to talk. Not just then, but along the way as you cultivated that idea and made it bear fruit. Thanks again for mentioning me in the speech. That was all the recognition I deserve. After all, you did all the real work! Everyone at Paramount, who put up with me when I worked as a special consultant on that movie series. I know we didn’t see eye-to-eye often, but I learned a heck of a lot about the film industry. And I gather that the results speak for themselves. All those awards!

There are many, many others whose friendship I would like to acknowledge, but time and space do not allow. They know who they are; and I have already thanked them.

As I move into the next stage of my life, I do so with no regrets. Thank you again for being a part of this little online community, and who knows? We may run across each other again!
